Description :

 

 

The Business Development Manager for the company will be a key contributor to the development of renewable energy investment projects in Senegal (and West Africa) up to financial close and support or lead the origination of new opportunities within the region

 

Main Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive)

 

  • Lead the process to secure project permits, authorisations and consents, including land lease agreements, government guarantees, licences etc

 

  • Establish new and maintain existing relationships with key stakeholders (Offtaker, Government Ministries, local contractors, advisors etc).

 

  • In conjunction with the Business Development team, assist in shaping and implementing company's Business Development Strategy in Senegal (and West Africa).

 

  • With a primary focus on Senegal, originate project development and M&A opportunities in renewable power and storage, either utility scale or Commercial & Industrial.

 

  • Identify potential Government tenders for the company to participate in, leading the review of tender requirements and submission of responses.

 

  • Working with the Business Development team, develop projects to financial close, ensuring close cooperation with ESG, legal, finance, technical and operational teams.

 

  • Identify, manage & mitigate risks during development and into construction and operations. Co-ordinate the selection of local consultants and advisory appointments and manage the delivery of assignments.

 

  • Working closely with internal & external stakeholders, support the due diligence process for M&A and Project Finance transactions.

 

  • Support due diligence, reviewing data rooms, supporting valuation and offer preparation for project acquisitions and financial close.

 

  • Contribute to internal reports and investment papers representing the project deal for all internal approvals up to board level and support internal and external presentations.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

 

§  Solid post-graduation experience, including:

§  Project Management

§  Project development, including permitting processes in Senegal (or elsewhere in West Africa)

§  Commercial negotiation and/or B2B sales or business development

§  Experience within power industry (IPP, utility company, OEMs or engineering firms)

§  Experience working on land search and negotiation would be an advantage

§  Experience within project finance would be an advantage

§  Experience within the renewable energy sector would be an advantage

§  French and English language fluency would be essential

§  Minimum degree level (bachelor / "License") qualified

§  Able to travel throughout West Africa, UK, Europe or other regions of Africa.
